I have white spots on my nails. do i have a problem?

ever since i was born i have had white spots on my nails.

is their something wrong with me??????????I have white spots on my nails. do i have a problem?
there just bruises i get them all the timeI have white spots on my nails. do i have a problem?
If they are at your cuticles it is new nails that always grow underneath for later. That is normal and they appear white. If they are above and are speks, maybe you use to bite your nails when you were younger. Sometimes hurting your finger doing something can cause that. It will in over time go away. Mine do.
White spots on your finger nails is a classical symptom of a zinc deficiency.
you are good
sounds like the first signs of cootie infusion.
it may just be scratches on your nails. i do a lot of yard work and when i scratch my nails they get a kind of white scrape. either way i don't think it's too big of a problem.
no there is nuthin wrong with u it is just new nails growing

When I first got my cat she allowed me to clip her nails with no problem. Now she gets really upset.?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have never clipped her quick so I just don't understand why she protests so much. I try to clip her nails when she is asleep but since she sleeps light this does not always work. I have also tried to make her comfortable with a favorite blanket and treats. I might just have to clip one nail at a time? Also does anyone use time-outs for behavioral issues? She's sweet most of the time but every now and then she does something that's not appropriate. I want to let her know that her behavior is unacceptable. I haven't tried water spraying yet. Thanks for any suggestions. When I first got my cat she allowed me to clip her nails with no problem. Now she gets really upset.?
My cats hate getting their nails clips. I just make them cofortable and trim them really quick then i give them treats and stuff. I don't use any ';time out'; actions but that may work of course it could make it worse also. good luck. When I first got my cat she allowed me to clip her nails with no problem. Now she gets really upset.?
Is she an outdoor cat? if she is she may be wanting to keep her claws to protect herself from other animals in the the neighborhood. Is she spayed? This will also have an effect on her behavior. Are there small children around? Do they sort of 'pick' on her, my son teases the cats I have horribly, so I allow them claws to protect themselves. And have trained them to claw on their specialized scratching posts. [Whenever they try to claw somewhere else I pick them up and carry them to where they can scratch] takes a little time but pretty soon they get the idea. Hope this helps you.
I have never trimmed my cats claws before but I did see this thing on tv shoot i forget what it is called but that might help or call a groomer and ask them what they use or your vet. hope this little bit of info helps

Shop try these web pages they have some nice ones
they just know that when there nails get clipped they can no longer climb up things as well or even scratch the couch and they hate this idea so they get pissed and try to get away.
LOL @ timeouts. That's not going to work. Cats don't reason like that. All they're going to know is that you're mean.

I don't believe in punishing cats. Not only does it really not work, it has side effects and it's mean. I don't even like the idea of a water bottle. I used that on Poppy as a kitten and now she's like autistic. I think it really upset her.

All you can do when a cat does something you don't want them to is say no. Physically remove them if applicable, and be consistent. That's really all I've done (minus the one incident with the water bottle) and my girls are very well-behaved.

As for the nails, just do what you can. If you can only manage one at a time, so be it. One thing I read is to keep their paws close to their body. Apparently they don't like having their legs pulled out.

It works well enough for mine. I always give them a treat after, but they still aren't crazy about having it done.
i can only do a few nails at a time.... i usually put a blanket over him and almost sit on him (while he's sleeping) but he ends up getting too wriggly and i let him go...

never tried time out... i don't think they would ';get it';... the water bottle definately helps htough... after a few squirts you can just shake it and they'll stop!
Not forcing the issue is the way to success. One at a time then reward with play and or treats. Discipline is not a concept that cats will ever get and they are pretty dim on punishment also. As she gets more comfortable again you can start doing two and increase slowly. She may have had a claw caught on something or had a sore toe you didn't know about which caused her change in attitude about clipping.
Take a good look at the under side of her nails. One of my cats was always fine about his nails being clipped when he was a kitten, and is still pretty much fine about his front paws, but the back paws are a fight. As far as I can tell it's because the cuticle on his hind nails now that he's full grown grows further out along the underside of his nails then the quick does. It doesn't bleed when I cut his nails, but like when you pull a hang nail I think it still is uncomfortable for him. I've tried rewarding him with treats, which has helped a little, but it still works best if I just clip one hind paw and then wait an hour or so and then do the other. Poor thing meows in a way that actualy sounds like he's saying 'ow' when you clip those nails.

As for the training, the spray bottle has worked best for me for most things (there are certain situations where other things have worked better simply because they happen most often when I'm not home). 'Time-outs' don't really work as well with cats as they would with people. You have to keep in mind that a cat's understanding is pretty much on par with a toddler's in most things, if the negative consiquence doesn't come right away the cat generally doesn't associate it with what they did. But if say every time the cat scratches the couch he's hit with a squirt of water, well then he starts thinking scratching the couch makes the water come and stops. If it's counters you're dealing with, a good trick is to take a length of the cheep plastic carpet runner that has traction studs on the back and put it on the counter upside down. When they jump up on to the counter their feet will be on the uncomfortable spikes and they'll hop back down. Doesn't work with all cats, but I've seen quite a few where it helps.
well, this is my personal opinion - I don't believe in clipping cats claws - even indoor cats - one of my indoor cats slipped out one day - if he hadn't had his claws he wouldn't have been able to climb the tree to get away from the big dog that chased him. I have several scratching posts, one floor to ceiling thing with carpeting with a shelf to hang out on (I built all the scratching posts with scrap carpet) and when my kitty does start to scratch (rarely) I just hiss at him and he stops and goes to one of the posts - I used to spray him with a water bottle - it only takes one maybe two sprays and if you hiss while spraying them - after awhile you can just hiss at them. You have to keep the water bottle handy on a stream spray so you can spray them while they are doing whatever it is - not after - I'm not sure a time out would really work - guess you could try it. They might think they were just getting to take a nap.

There is also a round thing that has a ball that goes around in a grove and it has a scratching pad in the middle - my cats like that too.

I bite my nails a lot,,is that a mental problem?

Biting of nails denotes anxiety or stress. It could also just be a nasty habit.Something you do unconsciously.I bite my nails a lot,,is that a mental problem?
No, i don't think biting your nails is a mental problem. It's just your habit, a mannerism. It probably occurs a lot when you're nervous or something. Most of my classmates also bite their nails. But try and kick off that habit, you don't want biting your nails when they're dirty, you never know how many germs are stuck in them.I bite my nails a lot,,is that a mental problem?
I used to do that as a bad habit when I was nervous, but there is this stuff you can buy that will help. It's like a nail polish but you can't see it at all, it's just there, but it tastes friggin awful. It got me to quit biting my nails.
It is no mental problem. It is just a habit, but bad habit. Try to avoid it.
It's a mental habit. I used to do it too. I stopped by painting my nails a really bright color. If you do it subconsciously this might work for you too, when you bring a bright blue nail up to your mouth you will immediately notice the color and you can stop your self.
Nail biting is the habit of biting one's fingernails or toenails during periods of nervousness, stress, hunger, or boredom. It can also be a sign of mental or emotional disorder. The clinical name for nail biting is chronic onychophagia. It occurs in 28% to 33% of children ages 7-10 years old, 44% of adolescents, 19% to 29% of young adults and 5% of older adults. It is more common in boys.

Hope this helps

Yes it is a mental problem. It serves no function, it is not pretty and it has no rational reason. It is amasing to me that many people don't realize that nail-biting and face-picking and hair pulling are mental problems. They say, if many people do it it can't be a mental problem. Guess what? It is very COMMON mental problem. Also, having mental problems doens't make you crazy.
lol no! so many people do it, it doesnt not mean they are mental...it's a habit, a bad habit. even i use to bite my nails, but i learned how to stop.

Major problem with Acrylic nails!!?

Well i just went and got acrylics put on by a proffesional- then i came home and diddnt really like them and i have contact lenses and i have no idea what im going to do about that and yeah. What do i do? how can i get them off????Major problem with Acrylic nails!!?
i have acrylic nails and contacts, its easy just use your finger part, and bend them so your nail doesnt touch your eye.

its hard to explain, but you will get it

for the acrylic nails, youll just have to wait, use a remover, or go back to a profesional .

sorry for the late response, i hope i helpped! :)Major problem with Acrylic nails!!?
Clarify please--get the contacts off or the acrylic nails off? If it is the nails, just use acetone Pure acetone if you have it since it will be a lot more efficient). If it is the contacts, try swiping a q-tip at the edge of the contact to ';pull'; it away from the eye so that you don't have to use your nails. Sorry for not quite understanding your question.
acetone nail polish remover
acetone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nail Polish problem?

I kinda think im addicted to painting my nails..ive never really liked it before but recently ive gotten to the point to where ill paint my left hand all one color and throughout the day if i decide i dont like the color and ill start to scratch it off...not only that but ill want to change a color and use a nourishing nail polish remover to get it all off...my question is...Is it unhealthy to paint and repaint my nails over and over again in the way ive been doing?...

what ever information you can give me would greatly help..im kinda worriedNail Polish problem?
its unhealthy to paint your nails at all. if its just a short phase your going through that lasts like 2-3 months it'll be alright. then after that just dont do it every day. try keeping your color on for at least 3-5 days at a time. o.p.i. is one of the healthiest for your nails. comes in great colors. also to keep it on longer spread a clear gloss on top of it.

  • Nail problem?

I have really long and strong nails. They are just too long so my right hand thumb nail broke. It's very painful, because it broke lower than it should so you can see the meat which would always be covered by the nail. I want to buy a nail polish which grows nails faster, so I wanna ask what period of time would it take to grow my nail back. Not too long, but just normal size, so it wouldn't be painful anymore. It hurts even when I touch something...Nail problem?
What can I say? Try it...Nail problem?
nail polishes which claim to make nails grow faster are not that effective, however, the pain should subside pretty quickly,
make sure u cut ur nails once every 2 months for healthy nails...clean it all the time...make sure give it a TLC...coz if u dont they will smell

    Problem Nails?

Ladies - I have never been able to grow even short nails. I can't wear acrylic because of the glue and my skin is very sensitive.

Any suggestions for even short, nice nails?

I have heard jello and have done that in the past but I don't always eat it.Problem Nails?
sounds like you need calcium. the other day i was with my cousin and she was complaining about how her nails are short and don't grow out nicely so my aunt told her that she should try taking calcium. also my mom is always talking about taking calcium for bones and nails.Problem Nails?
Use a daily/weekly nail treatment polish. OPI has a Nail Envy line that help with weak, thin, damaged nails. I have used it and it works pretty well. Also, try taking some skin, hair and nail vitamins or just any kind of complete vitamin. You can also try rubbing some tee tree oil, or coconut oil on them to keep the cutticles healthy.
YOU SHOULD GET SOME OF THE NAIL ';POLISH'; THAT HELPS YOUR NAILS GROW, IT IS CALLED NUTRA NAIL, AND IT REALLY WORKS, BUT IT IS NOT CHEAP, I GOT MINE FOR $5.00, BUT IT IS WORTH IT! GOOD LUCK!!
    french manicure?
My wife had the same problem and she finally found a good nail salon that specialized in silk-wrapped nails.

It avoids the use of acrylic products and the nails are much stronger and flexible. The trick is to find someone who can do a good job because silk-wrapped nails cost a little more and are not as easy as acrylic nails to shape.

Also with silk-wrapped nails you don't get the ';under nail funguses'; that come with prolonged use of acrylics.

I have a problem with biting my nails!?

I just do it involuntarily - I will be sitting at my desk at school and I'll just start biting my nails. I try to grow them out, but I never can. How can I stop?I have a problem with biting my nails!?
Try to set yourself a goal - every time week you don't bite your nails, you get a prize. If you don't bite your nails for a whole 2 months, then treat yourself to a manicure. Put something gross on them to help you stop. Good luck!I have a problem with biting my nails!?
I have the same problem. I've been biting my nails forever, and have only been able to start the stopping process now. What I do is use a nail growing formula like one from Sally Hansen, and a clear nail polish from Hoof ';Stop the Bite';, which tastes SO AWFUL. Even worse, if you do bite your nails, the taste sticks on your tongue and lips and you can't get rid of it easily. So it is a very, very persuasive way to stop, because it's just so hard to deal with that taste all the time. Another thing that helped was keeping a nail file on hand, and every time I noticed I was biting I filed instead.

Reward yourself for every nail that grows longer than usual (I saved a dollar for every long unbitten nail at the end of a week, and bought myself something small and fun or tasty at the end of the week), and don't give up!
I used to have the same problem... this is what i did

    1) put band-aids on my fingers ( to cover the fingernail)

    2) soak finger nail in lemon juice- can add salt (so they taste bad)

    3) put gloves on your hands

    4) nail polish

    5) Tape your nails

    6) Chew gum- to occupy mouth

    7) put vinegar on them

Hope this helps (these are some tips for at home also)
The very best way is to get a manicure. Get fake nails and keep them for at least two months. The hard nails will make it difficult to bite, plus, you won't want to mess up your pretty nails! I chewed my nails for years and this is what finally stopped the biting. Chewing gum does help, but the fake nails will help most... Good Luck!
i have the same problem and what i do is naill polish them and when the nail polish starts to come off a bit i polish them again just keep doing this and you'll totally ignore your nails next thing you know there already grown out!
OMG i have the same problem what i would suggest is to coat your fingers with something that doesn't taste good like hand sanitizer or polish remover when i do that i cant stand to try to bite them
    Try chewing something you love

put something sour on them like lemon

tape your nails if you have to

try clipping your nails so it will be hard to bite them

try your hardest i know you can do it

    good luck!

I have a problem with byting my nails? who can help me with cutting byting nails?

I agree with a lot of the answers already posted.

I habitually pick at my fingers, just the skin around the nail, the cuticle, etc. I try to stop myself. Every time I start picking, I clasp my hands together in my lap until the urge passes.

Also, you could try painting your nails, or try that stuff you put on your nails that tastes really bitter. They sell it right along with nail polish.

Good luck!I have a problem with byting my nails? who can help me with cutting byting nails?
I stopped biting mine when I saw a picture of a woman who had to have her stomach opened up to remove years of accumulated fingernails.I have a problem with byting my nails? who can help me with cutting byting nails?
Rub fish oil into your nails. It will taste pretty bad and you will soon stop it.

You can also think of all the germs that sit on your hands which is more than the bottom of your shoes.....
Tape your nails. One way to stop biting your nails is to tape the end of each with Scotch tape. Then when you go to bite your nail, you'll get an unpleasant mouthful of tape.

This would be very tacky for a teen or adult to do but I sucked my thumb as a child and my mom couldn't get me to stop by conventional methods like, yelling at me, calling me a sissy, spanking me, water torture like the president condones, etc. What she did though was put black shoe polish on my thumbs to keep me from sucking them. It was a very short period of time before I kicked the habit.

Black shoe polish wouldn't be very attractive to you but a neutral shoe polish would be undetectable, at least until the next time you went to bite your nails. Try it by getting up and putting it on your finger tips and nails first thing in the morning, at noon, and in the evening. It's a cheap resolution and will be something you can laugh about later on when you tell people how you stopped.
    What I did.

    This may seem weird

    Get some deordrant

    From the store

Dont use the one you have now

Well rub all your nails in it

Then when you try to bite your nails

    You will be digustiued

    Sorry about the spelling

    Good Luck
I used to have the exact same problem! It may sound silly, but it really helps to put gloves or a scented lotion on your hands. It helps because you won't have the urge to bite your nails if you know you're going to taste gross lotion in your mouth or you have gloves on so you can't. It's worked well for me and I broke the habit. Good Luck!
well, you could put a bad-tasting (not poisonous, damaging, or toxic, though) substance of your nails, and then you will eventually be able to go a day without biting!

    or

you could get a friend to tell you whenever you are biting your nails, so that you could realize it and make a mental note.

oh, and its spelled ';biting'; not ';byting'; =D
I used to bite my nails a lot then I had ecrilic nails applied and that kicked the habit.

Try puting nail polish on them.. or puting something you dont like on them, like hot sauce.
Look at your nails under a microscope, you will see how dirty and ugly they are, I am sure you will stop byting them!
Whenever you feel like you're gonna bite your nails, just squeeze your hands in a tight fist.
i have the same problem this is what i do.....try to keep your nails painted at all times...then when nervous or under pressure...you can just chip it off that is what i do, or you can get gel/acrylic nails, it will be expensive but you cant bite threw them
okay, paint your nails. paint them with a dark color and you'll notice how much of a bad habit it is when your hand comes up to your face.

i used to bite my nails too but it really isnt good for you nails... or your teeth. or try chewing gum or sticking a lollipop in your mouth when you feel like biting your nails :)

good luck. and STOP BITING YOUR NAILS ;)
my freind has been bitting her nails for 16 years its discusting

    try painting them

    or apply fake nails

it takes 21 days to break a habbit so start a countdown!!
There's stuff you can buy at any drug store or wal-mart.

It stuff that makes your fingers taste like garbage, so then everytime you put your nail in your mouth, it tastes disgusting, you'll never want to bite them again!
LOL....I have the same problem for almost 20 years. Then I meet a guy I really like, then one day I noticed that I was not biting my nails anymore. Since then I occassionally bite my nails when I am nervous or just plain upset. The best way to quit is not to think about it. Find a hobby or anything that keep you busy so you do not think about biting your nails or feel nervous or upset. All the products your get at the store helps to a certain point, but when you are thinking about it, you would look at your nail and soon, you would be biting it again. The best is keep yourself occupied with anything or keep your hands busy. Then one day you will noticed that ';wow'; you have actual nails that is growing. Good Luck!
New York Day Spa advise you to get the false nail in the drug store and put them over your natural nails. A) You will notice that this will make your hands look beautiful and B) It will help you to stop biting your nails. When you try to bite these nails they will feel different and this will help to reduce your biting tendensy/ nervousness.
Put hot sauce on your fingers; or something you strongly dislike! haha; it sounds stupid, but my friend did it, and it worked.

Or, just keep your nails reallly short

    or just chew gum instead

    [ :
Get them painted really pretty so that you wont want to wreak them.

you definitely need to see a doctor. this is something that could make your nail fall off. i am pretty sure there is a simple oral antibiotic that will get rid of it. but if you leave it untreated it could get really bad.I have a problem with my thumb nails?

i find it difficult to maintain long nails of my left hand as they cause problem while washing anus. i also fear that germs may grow under it. do any of you girls also face similar problems? any solutions?Problem of nails while washing anus?
no... I don't have that problem but, maybe you could try putting gloves on .....or....have someone else wash you...since you askedProblem of nails while washing anus?
for starters and i know this for when i was in nursing and we had lab, what lays under our fingernails is the biggest place for all germs and bacteria to be hanging out at. its why its so very important when washing your hands its best to use a nail scrubbing brush to get under your nails with soap and warm water. yes having long nails i will agree is beautiful on women specially when they are all done up, but after what i seen under a microscope, clip there went all my nails and now i keep them short so they are easier to keep clean and free of bacteria. sorry to say this but if your nails are that long that its difficult to wash with even with a cloth perhaps they are too long. you can easily scratch yourself open or if you have an external hemerrhoid you are able to scratch that open and cause unneeded bleeding or start a phisher. which is painful. you can always try one of the longer puff pads for gel soap and try that. wish you luck.
    Cut them.
get u a small nail brush and get under there,

i yer scratchin it up try putting on a loofa mitten. they feel really good on yer skin.

Problem in toes of the both legs?? The nails of my toe hv pierce or gone into skin from the corner?

How do i treat it? Should i show it to skin or bone specialist?? Help me plz.. It really pains hard when it gets pressure or hurt.Problem in toes of the both legs?? The nails of my toe hv pierce or gone into skin from the corner?
It is called an ingrown toe nail. See your doctor or podiatrist.Problem in toes of the both legs?? The nails of my toe hv pierce or gone into skin from the corner?
You have ingrown toenails. You don't necessarily have to go to a foot doctor. I have had these in the past and this is how I've dealt with it: use nail clippers and get as much of the toenail out of the corners of your toes where they are ingrown as possible. This should immediately relieve a lot of the pain. Then, when the nail starts to grow back, put cotton gauze or pieces of cotton ball in the corners of the toe, under your nail, to prevent them from growing back into the corners. Change this daily. If that doesn't help and the toenail continues to grow back into the corner, see a podiatrist.
Its an ingrown toenail, which is usually caused by cutting the nail too short and the skin growing over the regrowing toenail. Talk to your doctor. Sometimes, depending on the severity of it, the have to be removed. Also, what I personally was told to do was cut away from that perticular corner, so you can allow the nail to grow back to where it is supposed to be. I'd definately talk to your doctor soon, though, to prevent further discomfort to your feet. And BE CAREFUL NOT to stub your toes....it makes for excruciating pain, and can cause infection and further damage to your toes and toenails...I feel for you on this one...Good luck!
wow i know that hurts really bad go to a foot specialist but ouch i feel for u ingrown hairs are painful but ingrown nails oooo
It sounds like you have in-grown toenails. They can indeed be painful. You need to see a podiatrist. I am sure he/she can fix you right up.
That sounds like an ingrown toenail. That can be very painful. You can go to a foot doctor ( podiatrist) or to any general doctor. They know how to fix it and can tell you how to prevent it in the future.

Removing Acrylic Nails Problem Please Help!?

About three or four weeks ago I had acrylic tips put on and she put this gooey stuff on my nails (it was powdery and liquidy stuff mixed) I have ust managed to get the stuck on tips off but I can't get all of the gooey stuff off??!! I need it to come off today as tomorrow I am leaving to go to my nan's for the week and wont be able to take all of my things.Removing Acrylic Nails Problem Please Help!?
soak your nails in acetone nail polish remover, it should dissolve the glueRemoving Acrylic Nails Problem Please Help!?
That ';gooey stuff'; is the acrylic part of acrylic nails. The rest is just plastic. If you soak your fingers in hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol, that should make the acrylic loosen and/or melt. You can get rid of the plastic tips and acrylic by using the same soak repeatedly, about once every hour, and then picking off the parts that are loose enough.

Good luck. I know that it can be hard to get rid of it (for me, it usually takes two to three days), but if you use this soak and/or scub at your nails with a sponge in between, you can do it.

Alternatively, you can go back to the nail place and ask them to remove the nails for you. They'll do it, for a small fee.
That stuff is seriously hard!! Firstly, don't pick at it - you will really damage the nail underneath.

Go to a chemist and buy a really rough nail file then proceed to file the tops of your nails - I'm talking about the part that is covered in the acrylic.

This will take a long long time and there will be loads of dust, try not to breathe this in, it;s nasty stuff!!

Stop when the acrylic is quite thin.

You can either leave it as it is as it'll be less noticable when it grows out OR you can then soak your nails in nail varnish remover (but not the acetone free stuff). The acetone will soften the acrylic and after about 30mins of soaking, using a varnish remover soaked cotton wool pad, you should be able to wipe the remaining residue off your nails.

This is something that will take you a long time and your finger nails will feel pretty tender afterwards. Give them a treat by rubbing in nail oil (even olive oil) into them after.
for $5.00 you can go back to the nail place where you got it done and have them take it off. You can try it yourself by soaking your nails for 5-10 mins in nail polish remover and use nail clippers or other tools to remove them- BUT IT HUUUUURTS, and takes off layers of your nails! I highly reccomend going and having them removed where you got it done.
take 1 bowl with boiling water and 1 bowl with cutex remover.

put the bowl of cutex remover into the bowl with the hot water. when the cutex remover is hot, soak your nails in it. it wil take a while, but it will come off. the ';gooey'; stuff will desolve in the warm cutex remover. hope this was helpfull.
Soak you nails in nail varnish remover, make sure its not acetone free.

Keep soaking and rubbing it will come off. Dont try to pick it off or you will rip off your natural nails underneath and that will be very painful.

not sure bwt removing gooey stuff but to remove all acrilic nail and tip.

First file then to make t hem all rough

soak them in nail varnish remover that has acetone in

Keep repeating and they should soften and then dissolve!

    Good luck!
Soak your nails in Acetone (most nail varnish removers are acetone based) and lightly brush your nails with a nail brush to remove the goo.
buy acetone, ul get it from chemists, supermarkets etc u can but a nail varnish remover with acetone in it, then soak ur nails in it. This will remove whats left.
only way is to soak in nail varnish remover and file the stuff off your nails will be in bits but only way i know and i put them on.
you have to soak them for about 15 minutes in nail polish remover, it must be full strength. then get something to scrape the stuff off.
Get some acetone soak fingers in should eat glue and come off easy.
Soak your fingers in acetone. It will take a hour or so to make it go soft but it's the only thing that will work.

  • Nasty toe nails problem?

This is funny and nasty at the same time. I have nicely trimmed toenails...they never grow long. I wear dark socks. I shower every day and i am not a scum bag. i groom myself like every guy does...ok...more than the average guy but much less than a metrosexual. But sometimes when i sit at my computer i tend to pick at my toes...sometimes i find pieces of my sock in the upper right or left corner of my big to nail. one day i got curious, like every dumb human does, and i smelled the piece of sock...i am pretty sure its sock. well any way it smells like straight up dog crap and after i pick it my fingers smell really bad.

What can i do to get rid of the smelly problem on my big toe. it is on both feet. I think it could be from wearing dark socks/sweating.

I figure i would ask it under beauty and style because if i ask it under mens health, women might have the same problem...it is possible.Nasty toe nails problem?
Use acetone and antifungals to take care of an immediate problem. Keep you feet well aired and dry (beathable socks and shoes) in addition to your daily cleanliness. Feet sweat and and usually enclosed, so it'll be toughNasty toe nails problem?
Ok well the smell is coming from the sweat and dead skin under your nails. All you need to do is stop picking at it or use that little hook thingy on nail clippers to clean under your toenails often because thats whats causing the smell. Im pretty sure its not noticeable from far away and its just the fact that its dead skin/sweat buildup under the nail. Nothing to really worry about unless you see fungus like stuff under it. Just keep the buildup clean and your problem will be solved =]
it might be cause of the socks being black and maybe to thick. Try after showering putting some gold bond powder or even baby powder on your feet and in between your toes. This will make your feet smell better and make sure they are really dry. then put your socks on. Try buying a little bit thinner socks and go with a white or light gray color. Good luck with your stinky toes hope this helps!

I drive a Nissan 350z and always get nails in my tires, does anyone have this problem?

Yes on my Skyline, nails glass bottles, cans and a car full of scratches pleasure

of having a decent car. iam afraid.I drive a Nissan 350z and always get nails in my tires, does anyone have this problem?
Stop working at a nail factory...I drive a Nissan 350z and always get nails in my tires, does anyone have this problem?
Tires are the only thing on a car that are so susceptible to failure the factory gives you an extra one in the trunk. My Bridgestone pontenzas act like magnets if there are sheet metal screws I get them in my tires too. Nail attraction is directly proportioned to the cost of the tire a $29.00 tire almost never picks up nails and a $345 tire will get nails on the way home from the tire store. New developments new housing and areas where there was roofing being done. One realitor I knew could not keep tires on her car.
I dont really thing it has to do with your 350z, just try not runnin crap over...duh...
LOL Just yesturday i got a cement screw in my real driver tire. Thats the third one this month. I get them alot on that same tire. Its ok though, im about to buy new tires. I realized it happened alot if you have summer performance tires as compared to like a truck that has really nubby tires. The flatter surface really turns them over.
No, I don't drive through lumber yards and hardware stores.
Nope, our streets are kept clean.

It has nothing to do with tires or the car. It has to do with where you drive.
    lol...is your car a magnet
someone is hating on u by putting nails in your tires.

that's wrong, in so many ways....
If cleaning this area during the day make sure you use a soap and warm/hot water after when washing your hands. When in the shower make sure you wash that part last THEN wash your hair. It is a matter of not washig that part before you wash any other part of your body (like face or other private parts). Washing your hair after is fine.

Hi, i want to grow my nails but i cant. I have never grown them. How can i grow them ?Nails problem! Pls help me!?
do NOT get into getting artificial nails like acrylic or gel etc.

i learned the hard way; my nails became so weak that when the manicurist took off a set to put on new ones, a nail like bled. ew.

now i'm in your boat but it's getting better. i like sally hansen hard as wraps because it has some acrylic ingredients but it's safe. it lets your nails grown while protecting the outside from harsh elementsNails problem! Pls help me!?
I'm trying to grow mine too, well I've been trying for years but its very hard!

DONT put hot Sauce on them! Thats silly!

There's nail polish you can get especially for growing them,it tastes yucky so when you bite them you get this aweful taste and dont want to get it again. Also try painting your nails with any polish,I find when they have a pretty colour on them I dont want to ruin it.I always find that when Im doing really when and they've started to get some length that i bite them at that stage and its really annoying. If,like me,its a habbit you do when nervous or excited, then try to think of something else you could do,like (this sounds stupid) but trace the lines on your hands or something to stop yourself from biting. This is all i can suggest, all of this does help, but at the end of the day you need to REALLY try hard just to not do it.Its soo hard but you can do it.
depends do you bite them. if you do wear nail polish a colour that u can see and if u feel like biting them look at the polish and say you dont want to mess it up. if u dont just leave it it takes time i have the same problem dont worry about it
    no aclyics, etc.

but some remedies can be hot sauce, nailpolish, or a varnish.

get into a gum habit instead, its healthier than biting them at least lol
    put hot sauce on them

The nails are popping up on my shingles on the roof, whats the best way to fix the problem.?

If your nails are popping up it means that your plywood is rotten or bad. A roofing nail will not pop out of good wood. I'm assuming that the roof was done with roofing nails. The nails are popping up on my shingles on the roof, whats the best way to fix the problem.?
replace the nails in different spots. The nails are popping up on my shingles on the roof, whats the best way to fix the problem.?
how long ago was the roof done?nails popping back up are usually due to the house settling and shifting and/or the plywood getting soft /rotted.you may need not only to replace the shingles, but replace the sheathing also.have a professional look at the problem.if just a few nails here and there.you may want to replace these nails with a longer roof nail yourself.if the roof was recently done it is possible that the contractor did not fully drive the nail.other factors may also be accountable.tempeture change adding to exspansion and contraction.how thick is the sheathing?how far apart are the rafters?i have seen nails back out of sheathing over time only because the sheathing was 3/16'; and the rafters were 2 ft. apart.good luck with your problem.hope it all works out.
Squeeze some adhesive on the shaft of the nail, and nail the loose ones back in.
Pound them back in. Sorry, but otherwise you will need new shingles.
Instead of pounding them back down, pull them and replace them with coated nails
    hammer them back in
Call a roofer, or get up there and hammer them in.

    Nails problem?

Does any one know why my nails lift of the nail bed? Suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated,it is worse on my middle fingers and my thumbs.

    Thank youNails problem?
I hear that eating garlic makes nails stronger but I am not sure of it. I use Sally hansens nail products and when I keep up with them my nails are strong and long. I get a lot of compliments. I used to go to nail shop but products did not keep my nails from being brittle. You can get her products at walgreens probably any drugstore. Make sure if you use her products for the first couple of weeks apply which ever base repair product every 2 days to get your nails strong and back in shape then use the color. that is best way to start getting healthy strong nails and then show then off with the color.

It's a sign of HCL deficiency. Iron-deficiency anemia may cause the nails to appear pale and become thin, brittle, ridged. Use a good cuticle oil to keep the nails hydrated. Vitamin E, prenatal vitamins, and a good multi-vitamin will help you grow long, strong, healthy nails. Nails problem!...!eh.? ?

Could it have helped aggravate the acne because of the bacteria in my nails?I've been biting and eating my nails almost my entire life. I'm 18 years old. Can this cause other problems?
its just a bad habit, nothing else will happen unless u have dirt in ur nailsI've been biting and eating my nails almost my entire life. I'm 18 years old. Can this cause other problems?
oh yes all kinds of nasty problems because of bacteria lurking under the nails, not to mention the sharp edges of the swallowed ones possibly cutting u up inside your digestive tract.......and one more possibility, getting caught in your appendix and causing appendicitis or rupture and end up[needing to have it removed surgically.....Please stop this as soon as u can. Take care! Best to u!
Um......yeh....this can cause other problems....like (no offense seriously) but most people consider that to be pretty gross....and probably anyone you want to consider dating is not going to find it particularly sexy. If people can quit smoking, you can stop biting your nails. Put some tape on the ends of your fingers. Good luck!
Well, it's definitely a thought. I mean, all sorts of stuff live under your nails. I bite my nails myself, but have smooth clear skin, but things vary from one to the next. Anyway, please stop biting your nails. I'm 24 and I haven't stopped yet. Furthermore, it has got to be one of the most unattractive habits ever. I mean, look down, right now at your fingers! They're probably all jagged and whatnot. No lady likes a man with hands like that, so please try to stop asap.
I did it and i got really sick with diahrea and then a cold and projectile vomiting because of the dirt and bacteria under my nails. Bad stuff, suggestion put gloves on.
yes, do you know how many germs are on your hands ?

    A LOT!!!!

Just use a nail clippers already sheesh
I did it for the first 33 years of my life and then I hurt my hand and had it operated on, when the bandages came off my nails had grown long and looked good. I then took up chewing gum and you can't bite the nails and chew at the same time. Now time for a new game, see how long you can grow them but this runs into another problem they get caught in things and either they tear or break off. While writing this it brought me back to when I enlisted in the Navy at age 17 during WWII, at the physical the doctor asked me if I bit my nails, I told him NO that were all ways breaking off from playing basket ball, so I lied. Spent 3 years in the Navy.
    STOP BITING THEM!

Under your nails are little bug eggs and germs and bacteria and dirt that can make you sick to your stomach (REAL BADLY)

    eW. STOP doing it... :\

Just like skin, out nails do need a little 'tlc'. You can do the following daily tips to make nails stronger and grow faster -

    - Massage nails with your fingertips.

    - Rub the fingernails of both hands across each other for a few minutes daily.

    - Do not file nail corner tips. It weakens them.

    - Eat foods rich in potassium, iron, calcium and vitamin B. Try eating 6 almonds a day.

Say goodbye to brittle and weak nails soon. :-)

    Nails problem!...!eh.?
well the key is to keep them painted at all times. apply a new coat once a week. use anything that promotes nail strength ';hard as nails'; or ';7 days growth'; or whatever. dont let them get too long....extra long nails are out anyways...i used to be a nail biter...and my nails have become weak from it but i followed what i just suggested to you and theyre growing well...longer and stronger. hope i could help :-)

    Nails problem????

hi! well my nails are thin and soft (kind of) though i keep them low still they are extremly shap and sometimes i hurt people and even myself undelibrately. so please if you know what i should do or apply to remedy it i'll appreciate it.Nails problem????
I had the same thing. One of my sisters and I were looking at our nails and wondering why they were so thin, peeling, and cruddy, and then we looked at our 3rd sister's nails, and they were thick and strong! Difference? My 3rd sister takes multivitamins daily, while my other sister and I didn't, and we also ate junk with little nutritional value. We had vitamin deficiencies! I've now been taking multivitamins (I get them at Costco, very cost efficient) since August, and you can see this ridge of thicker nail as my nails grow out. Pretty cool, really.

(OPI's Nail Envy didn't work for me, btw.)Nails problem????
Use clear nail strengtheners. And occationally go without any polish to allow your nails to breath.
Use a nail moisterizer and maybe a nail file?
Get a bottle of OPI's Nail Envy! This stuff is awesome and works great! You can get the product at nail salons or ulta. It's kind of expensive but it well worth the money. I used to have thin soft nails and used nail envy for a month and my nails got stronger in a month. (you have to get the original formula it will say it on the bottle)
Go to a salon and get this stuff to put on your nails daily. It keeps your nails strong and healthy. If that doesn't work I suggest a manicure. Oh and don't cut them too much. It hurts the skin and nail if you cut it too low. Another good thing is milk. Good luck!
maybe go to a nail salon and ask what they can do.

and maybe when your there you can get yourself a peticure (your worth it)
    keep polish on them !

    use nail strengtheners!
Maybe you have to increase your protein intake ?

    ';keratin, any one of a class of fibrous protein molecules that serve as structural units for various living tissues. The keratins are the major protein components of hair, wool, nails, horn, hoofs, and the quills of feathers. These proteins generally contain large quantities of the sulfur-containing amino acids, particulary cysteine. The helical keratin molecules twist around each other to form elongated strands called intermediate filaments. The formation of a covalent chemical bond called a disulfide bridge between the sulfer atoms on two cysteins on separate polypeptide chains of keratin allows for the cross-linkage of these chains and results in a fairly rigid aggregate. This phenomenon is seen to be consistent with the physiological role of the keratins, which provide a tough, fibrous matrix for the tissues in which they are found. Human hair is approximately 14% cystine (cysteins cross-linked by disulfide bridges).';
trim them down till theres nothing to poke with, but if you like long fingernails you should buy french tipped fake ones, they wont be sharp enough to hurt someone and you can still have long fingernails =] Good Luck.

But nail polish on them or some other yucky tasting thing

Is it still a ';problem'; if you scratch yourself, like with your nails or blunt scissors? (intentionally)

I think its nothing, because it doesnt really break the skin, and it doesnt scar and often its gone by the morning..Is it still a ';problem'; if you scratch yourself, like with your nails or blunt scissors? (intentionally)
You sound like your starting on the rocky road to where I am. It does matter cos' its not a normal thought pattern (Whatever a normal thought pattern is!). It doesnt matter that it doesnt scar, this is how it begins. Something in your life must be wrong, you need to identify what it is, try to sort it out in your head or maybe tackle it with the help of a doctor, GP, counsellor.. This is how I started and I am now diagnosed as Borderline Personality Disorder, Im not saying this is what it is but it definetly shouldnt be ignored. Seek help. xIs it still a ';problem'; if you scratch yourself, like with your nails or blunt scissors? (intentionally)
This is how more severe self-harm starts. Watch yourself, and if it gets worse, get prompt help.
I think it depends upon why someone is doing this - if deliberate with intent to hurt your self, it could be a self-harming behaviour - people tend to associate self-harm with cutting, but it can take many forms - deliberately burning/scratching/starving or otherwise injuring yourself.

Other reasons might be that it is just a habit, perhaps a nervous one. I have to admit that I suffer skin problems and sometimes scratch at my skin, but I would not describe this as particularly intending to harm myself, more itching or through a nervous habit since childhood.

I think it is the reasons that are most important - a lot of people do this kind of thing mildly as it ';feels good'; (not in a sexual way) if that makes sense?
Intentionally cutting or scratching yourself can be a problem. It could be a signal that you have depression or borderline personality disorder that needs to be treated. There are a number of teenagers and young people that ';cut'; for many different reasons. I guess it might be important for you to figure out why you do this to yourself. Is really just for fun? Do you feel the need for attention? Or are you feeling a lot of pain or stress right now in your life?

You might be interested in checking out the following link on ';cutting';.

Also if you feel depressed or feel you are dealing with a lot of stress, anger or painful feelings, you might consider seeing a therapist or a counselor. Sometimes after a person sees a counselor and can work through their negative emotions, that person no longer feels a need or desire to cut anymore.
try to talk to someone, sometimes it is easier to talk with a stranger...... im pretty sure loads of people on here would listen, i certainly will. you could be on the road to self harming, and once you are on it, its hard to get off. ive got a few friends with the same feelings as yourself, even i feel like it at times. i feel its expressing the ways you feel. try and talk to someone. try the website below, its really good and there are people to talk to day and night. let me know how you get on x
no i dont think so anyway i do it when im bored sometimes not with sissors i did with a pocket knife but that was to see if it was sharp anough to go through the skin

    Please help my problem nails?

Nearly every nail on my hands keeps splitting. Not breaking or anything like that - literally, I have these lines (ridges) running down each nail that cause the layers of my nail to split. It's not a vitamin problem, I eat pretty healthy and take a multi-vitamin. Anyone have a suggestion on how I can stop the splitting from happening? Some of the ridges run all the way down to the cuticle. Please help my problem nails?
could be an infection, or It could just be extremely dry. I would first get an anti-fungal cream for the nail, use it as directed. Then I would use a nail fortifier. Garlic works too. I think it would also be wise to put hand cream on your nails once a day to keep them from drying out too much. after about a week the nail should be stronger, and I would recommend that you buff it regularly. ( one to three times a week) The buffing helps it to look better and at also stimulates nail growth. Filing your nail with a glass nail file may be better then cutting it. Glass is easier to clean then emery boards and filing can reduce the chances of your nail getting caught on something. And dont put nail polish on. It can weaken your nails even more.

The best type of nail fortifier that I know of is ';onymyrehe'; made by the tetra corporation. They are known for fungal treatments so I would trust them. Their website is:

The nail strengthener that they sell is so good that since I started using it, I have not even had a nail chip. I am a classical guitarist with vary long nails on my right hand and besides buffing, filing, and putting on onymyrrhe, I don't take care of my nails. Please help my problem nails?
Sounds like you do have a problem, maybe need to try some acrylic on top (not fake nails)
Sounds to me like you may have a nail fungus. You need to see a doctor and not just rely on topical ointments. A nail fungus will cause your nails to be brittle and weak, sometimes thick and discolored. Get to a doctor and keep your hands away from your eye's and mouth.

    and eat lots of jello

surprisingly, its really good for your nails!

    i hope i could help! =]
Nail glue would do the trick. Why don't you try Fingr's Brush-on Nail glue. It works!

    Good luck!
i have problem nails too, thats why I use acrylic nails lol. but if you dont want to do that get regular manicures which clean u up good. lotions and streghteners for nails will help too. go to a salon and have someone look at them in person because there could be lots of things causing this.
You may have to cut them really short and start over. Also, wear clear nail polish....the kind that benefits nail health and growth.
My great grandmother said if you peel garlic your nails get stronger and they did but you can try to nail polish that is garlic and see how that works
massage ure nail with almond oil...it will help for sure
I always file my nails square like, if they are curved or oval shaped that have a tendicey to break or split more. Also try Nail Tek, is a clear top coat that makes your nail thick. Try not to polish your nails too often though, the nail polish remover can dry your nails out, making them weak and brittle.

I am still in school so please keep that in mind when making suggestions.I have a problem with picking at the skin around my nails. I need suggestions for ways to stop this habit.?
I had that problem, the only thing that I have found worked for me is putting anti-bacterial ointment on the area, then covering it with a band-aid and leaving it there for several days. Once you take the band-aid off, it might look very raw and sensitive, but if you let it air out for several hours to a day and don't touch it at all, it will turn into a healing scab.I have a problem with picking at the skin around my nails. I have the same problem, except I bite my nails. (Don't even think about it.) What you could do is sit on your hands when you don't need to use them or you could also ask your teachers if you could where gloves during the day. Good luck! :D

Perhaps wearing gloves might be a useful option.

If you can keep your teeth busy, so you won't have time to bite your nails, might perhaps be another option. Plenty of chewing gum all day long to keep your teeth busy.I have a problem with biting my nails. How can i stop it. Its a bad habit?
I did this. I got an electric nail file and kept it handy, got some super glue and used Sally Hansen nail growth polish. Keep your nails smooth so you don`t have anything that your teeth can get a hold of. Good luck, it won`t take very long.
same problem :D i will keep an eye ont his question haha

    Biting your nails problem?

my friend has a really bad nail biting problem, she is taring her nails to shred and going for the skin and doesn't stop bleeding!Biting your nails problem?
um.... paint them? that might make her think before biting 'em. They have chemical stuff that you can use, they're supposed to be harmless and they taste bad so you won't bite them..?Biting your nails problem?
dont bit the nails over 24-43 day and she will forget
soke them in lemon juice or something disgusting then let here bite she wont do it because it tasyes disgusting or everytime she bites she has to do 10 pushups or something active
Biting your nails can be a problem but not usually........its actually genetic but if shes bleeding alot then this is a problem,, maybe you want to get her this nail stuff and put it on her nails and if she bites her nails she will get a bad taste for a long time and sooner or later she will stop her habit! hope this helps! =D
Soak you (their) fingertips in a sour / bitter-tasting liquid.

Each time you (they) put your (their) fingers in your (their) mouth - to bite, you (they) will taste this terrible flavor.

This will force you (them) to try to avoid putting this in your (their) mouth.
they have formulas you can buy where you put it on your nails and it taste so bad you dont even want to bite them.she should look into it.

    answer mine?

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>
I dont know i used to be a big finger nail biter but now i never do it. I have heard from some people there is a clear nailpolish ( it comes in color two) that tastes horible even from a lick so you cant even put your mouth on it. So thats what i know a lot of people use that method. I know if you just tell her and tell her not to bite them she may forget and just forget the habit. I think thats what happened to me.

Also i think what moivated me was my mom took me for a manicure a couple times and i relized how my nails were suffering and how pretty they could look and also how bad it hurt when they filed down on the bit up nails that i just decided that i would stop :)

see if any of that helped?

    _
have her put her hands in acetone so that they taste bad. after a day or two it should subside
Get your friend to put gloves or something on.
obviously your friend is stupid but paint her nails the nail polish taste really BAD!

I have really dark nails whats the problem?

im an african american/native american girl with a huge problem my nails are almost the same color as my skin. (and thats a chocolate color) its so embarrsing for me to not wear nail polish because ppl always ask me questions. sometimes i put a clear polish on and play it off like im wearing brown nail polish. what should i do to make my nails the right colorI have really dark nails whats the problem?
well, it's best in your case to go see a doctor and see if that's natural for you.I have really dark nails whats the problem?
If that's the way you are, then try not to worry about it! You are african american/native american and that's a great! There's no ';right'; nail color, just be proud of who you are and what comes with it!
My cousins are african american and always complain how pale my nails look lol.I think you can use any light cream nail polish, always use a good nail polish remover otherwise you could get more darker nails as they get stained.

If you think that are darker or rarer than usual...........could be a health issue, otherwise is just your natural and beautiful color :)

I need to cut my dog's nails. The problem is that she gets very scared and tries to get away.?

I am looking for an OTC, or Home Remedy that would sedate her so that I can do a good job on her nails.I need to cut my dog's nails. The problem is that she gets very scared and tries to get away.?
The best thing to do is to get her used to having her feet messed with. My best friend is a professional dog groomer and trainer, and she plays a game with all the dogs called ';My Paw';.

    Hold the dog in your lap in such a way that it can't get away from you. Grab the dog's paw and hold onto it gently, but do not let the dog have its paw back until it is calmer, or until you are ready to give it back. Once you can hold the paw, start massaging the toes, and repeat the ';My Paw'; process. Once you can hold it, and massage the toes, bring the nail clippers out and pretend to clip the nails, again playing ';My Paw';

Speak in a very soothing voice the whole time. Remember it is not what you say, but how you say it.

Eventually she will learn that you are not going to hurt her.I need to cut my dog's nails. The problem is that she gets very scared and tries to get away.?
My dog can NOT bare to have his nails cut. It is an event! It takes a muzzle and atleast 3 people to hold him down and cost about 5 bucks at the groomers. He's drama king, but when it's over he's fine.
Hi Jason, if your dog initially resists getting his nails trimmed you will most likely need to spend a lot more time getting him used to the procedure. As with a puppy, it鈥檚 a good idea to start getting your dog used to having his feet handled before you attempt to clip your dog鈥檚 nails. Be very patient and don鈥檛 rush into the procedure.

Bring out the clipping tools ahead of time and let your dog become familiar with them. It is important that you remain calm. If you鈥檙e nervous, your dog will sense it and associate fear or uncertainty with dog nail trimming. If your dog is nervous use gentle reassurance, but don鈥檛 coddle your dog. Let your dog know that you expect him to behave, but don鈥檛 push it too far. Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Nails/

Dog nail trimming is not painful if you use a sharp nail trimmer and don鈥檛 clip the nails too short. A dull trimmer can put a lot of pressure on your dog's toenail before it actually cuts through the nail. If this happens your dog may feel an uncomfortable pinching sensation. This is because the vein in the toenail is being squeezed. To avoid this always make sure that you're using a sharp pet nail trimmer.

Use only trimmers designed for pets. Ask your veterinarian or a groomer for advice about what types of nail trimmers are best for your dog and how to use them properly. Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/How_To_鈥?/a>

Never attempt to trim your dog's nails with clippers designed for use on humans.

    Jason Homan
Try using a Dremel instead of a clipper. Many dogs that don't care to have their nails cut are much calmer with the Dremel. Also, try to work on your dog's nails after you exercised your dog. She might be too tired to resist.

    Good luck.
I have the same problem with both my dogs. The one bites at me, the other pees herself. I'm really interested to see what advice people give you. Thanks for asking such a great question!
I had the same problem too, but I took her to a local groomers and they cut them in 30 secs and didn't even charge. The vets will normally do it too, It they charge, it's normally not very much:)
let the dog check the clippers out for a while. try doing one nail at a time but take breaks in between. I had the same problem, did this and it worked
I take mine to the groomers... 5 bucks and a whole lot less headache =D
I've got the same thing with my dog.

Don't drug your dog, please. Get help, hold her down, don't coddle her. She's got to learn that she must submit to having her nails clipped, but that nothing bad will happen to her and there's no reason to be afraid.

Also, it's important that you're calm and not apprehensive about her reaction. Your dog takes all her cues from you.
Bring her 2 a groomer or a vet. But if she feels better w/ u around, y don't u ask the vet or groomer if u r allowed 2 accompany him in his teatment. After all, it would be easier 4 them as well right???
Please dont drug the dog. You can get someone to hold the dog while you are doing it. Get a mask to go over the dogs mouth so the dog don't bite either one of you. or you could also take the dog to the vet.
Well there is no quick fix to get your dogs to allow you to cut their nails. But I have found that if you play with the dogs paws it will desensitize them to you touching them and eventually allow you to cut their nails without any problem. All you should have to do is when they are just laying next to you touch and pet on their paws and when they do not fight with you about touching them give a treat. Your dog will soon learn that your not going to hurt them and allow you, without hesitation, to cut and groom them.

I have had a couple of dogs that just refused to allow it to happen at first, but with time and a little patience it became easier. Now when I go to cut my current dogs nails she just lays there and when she is all done she eagerly waits for her treat for a job well done.
Just take her to the groomers or the vet they usually do it for cheap and its easier then trying to do it yourself.
Holding her down and making her submit?!? What a terrible suggestion. Gradual desensitization is a much better idea.

    http://dogliness.blogspot.com/2006/06/im鈥?/a>

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article鈥?/a>
You can try the Bach's Rescue Remedy... It might calm her down enough to allow you to do her nails.

You can also slowly get her used to the whole idea.. Leaving the clippers around, touching her feet all the time.. Letting her know that you aren't going to hurt her, allowing her to hear the sound of the clippers..

Some people have great luck filing the nails instead, or using a dremel tool on dogs that don't like their nails clipped.. Becareful the dremel tool tho if you have long hair. I talked to someone who got her hair caught in it and it pulled a plug of skin and hair right out of her head before she got it stopped!
Clipping a dog's nails is tricky. If the nails are dark, you can't see where the life ends in it and might hurt him/her.Suggest you let the vet do it.Other way is loads of running , it will wear the nails of naturally.
you need to train her properly. do not sedate her.

dogs paws are extremely sensitive. even a really well trained dog will still flinch on occassion while having nails cut.

a dogs nails are NOT like humans nails - they go much deeper into the bone/flesh of the toe.

also, be very careful when cutting her nails. its best to cut a very small amount, leave it for a week, then cut another small amount.

this is because a vein runs down the nail - do NOT cut this vein, its very painful, will bleed a lot and can get a nasty infection in the dogs paw/leg.

    .

    .
Get a friend to help number one. I have my girlfriend hold my dog and put some peanut butter on a spoon and have her give it to him to distract him. Also, to avoid cutting too close, I cut his nails maybe every 10 days and just cut a little off so as to not go too far and cut the quick (the nerve in the nail that will bleed if you cut it). If you do cut the quick just quickly blot it with some paper towel for a few minutes. Then just mix a little corn starch and water and it will make a nice paste. Just apply the paste to the nail to close it. He'll be fine though.
I use to have a problem with my dog not wanting me to cut her nails, she would whine and pull away from me. I started having the groomer cut her nails, this way she wouldn't be scared of me. Since she had a fear of having her nails cut I told the groomer about her fear, I told them that they may want to use a muzzle just in case.

Try taking your dog for walks, that does help keep the nails shorter. The dog seems to wear down their nails as the walk on the sidewalks. I use to walk my dog every day and I never had to have any one cut her nails. It was only after I became ill that I wasn't able to take her for walks every day when I needed the groomer to cut her nails.

I'm sure that every thing will work out just fine.

OK, so here are two solutions that are almost guaranteed to work:

    1. Download the OphCrack LiveCD (warning: huge download, but should finish in a few hours at most if you have a fast connection) here:

    http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/download鈥?/a>

Burn it to CD; insert it into the computer; reboot the computer; and follow on-screen instructions.

    Problems:

    * You use a dial-up connection (or other really slow connection) OR you don't have burn privileges. Solution: Use #2, or burn the CD on someone else's computer.

    * You can't boot from CD. Solution: Either use #2, or reconfigure BIOS settings (probably you can do this by pressing something like F1 as the computer is starting up) so that CD boots before hard disk. If you can't get into the BIOS, there's always #2...

    2. Follow the instructions here: http://loginrecovery.com/

    Problems:

    * The service fails to retrieve the password. In this case, use #1.

    * You don't have a floppy drive. In this case, try #1.

    * Both CD and floppy are set to boot after hard disk, and you can't get into the BIOS. Yeah, that's a problem. Search ';reset BIOS password'; on Google.

    Acryllic Nails Problem?

So, I've been getting my nails done for a few months now and for some reason the top clear coat turns brownish and sticky. Any ideas of what I can do to prevent this from happening?Acryllic Nails Problem?
smoking.. lack of cleaning your nails... and tanning... those 3 things turns the coat yellow... but eventually it would seep down to the acrylic.... if you want to get tann. be sure to remove false nails and polish too..to get white looking nails.. avoid doing those things...Acryllic Nails Problem?
it is always good to have the nails removed for like a week every 2 or 3 months so your real nails can breathe.
ask the nail salon to fix it ....
This happens a lot with acrylic nails. They last a lot longer than gel nails, but there are more ugly side effects. Make sure the nail technician uses a solution to wipe off your nails after they are done. Other than that, you might try gel nails for a while, then switch back to acrylic.

Listerine cures nail fungus! Help share the solution to a disgusting problem, the reason I joined YahooAnswer

    The answer is:

    Listerine!!

    It actually works!

I injured a toe nail (bent it back over the toe, ripping the majority of it off it's bed) and then after several months developed a white fungus which later spread to other nails. People can easily find helpful information on the web such as: fungus grows well in the high moisture enclosed space of shoes, so I'd rather tell everyone that soaking fungus in Listerine on a regular basis and periodically trim the nails back immediately following a soaking will eradicate the fungus. Initially I soaked the whole foot for too long which caused a weird, but brief tingling sensation and the skin on the bottom of my foot started a slight crack. I protected the crack with Vaseline which quickly healed and began tipping the basin in order to only soak the toes. Once/twice weekly, 20-40 minutes, seems to do the trick! Nails grow slowly, so be patient, but see weekly progress. Keep finger nail and toe nail clippers separate.

    Wishing you the best,

My middle finger, left hand top joint (closest to the nail) aches; could this potentially be a health problem?

Hi, I'm a 16 year old healthy female. I don't crack my knuckles and have no irregular habits (includes medication, dieting, etc.). However, the top joint in my middle finger only on my left hand has been hurting mildly for around a year or so. I have not had an injury there or anything unusual. Let me just clarify that it's a very mild pain that I notice when I grip something or press down using that finger. It does not affect me when I do tasks at all, but I notice the aching feeling, and I think it is irregular for someone my age to be having any sort of pains at all. I am particularly worried that it will develop into arthritis or some joint problem when I grow older.

Any explanation towards why I am feeling this in my joint, and anything to solve this problem?

Other info: My parents don't have arthritis (don't think it's hereditary), I get a daily intake of calcium and do not have any other joint/bone problems. I have no diseases, and I have not inquired my doctor because it's not a severe problem, but I will the next time I see her if someone notifies me it could be serious. My middle finger, left hand top joint (closest to the nail) aches; could this potentially be a health problem?
You are never too young to have arthritis. You need to see your doctor!

for their toilet , get them a Litter Box from the supermaket .

they make their toilet , it combines with the litter , you remove it .

it's advisable to bring one box for each.

about their nails , take them to the Doctor .

he would trim their nails properly.

Nails keep layering and breaking off? What is the problem and what can I do to help my nails stop layering?

You mean pealing?? Well you probably don't have enough fiber in your diet. Try eating Jello, it's actually really good for your hair and nails! Also i'd try a strengthening clear coat of nail polish, Sally Hansen has some good ones. Good lucky hun! Hope this helped :)Nails keep layering and breaking off? My wife had a very similar problem.

Her friend, a manicurist told her to take a good multi-vitamin w/iron and xtra d.

I don't know what d has to do with it. And told her to keep them clipped right at or above the quick until they grow out. Then they should be fine.

Low on nutrients and acrylic nails will cause the problem she said.

BTW it really caused her hair to grow with the vitamin.Nails keep layering and breaking off? What is the problem and what can I do to help my nails stop layering?
you should see a dermotologist, but i had good results from something called ';nailtique'; It comes in different stages for different types of nail issues. You paint it on once a day for a week and then remove it and start over, eventually your nail become normal again!

    Hairspray and polishing nails problem?!?!?

Ok i am a guy who uses the hairspray, i have just noticed that when i use hairspray it puts a residue on my finger nails, how can i remove it or prevent it?Hairspray and polishing nails problem?!?!?
Usually soap and water can take off normal hairspray, but for hairspray that is used for strong holds, i would advise a little bit of shampoo which will cut through the residue, just like when its in your hair. I've also heard the lemon juice can work too but i haven't tried it.Hairspray and polishing nails problem?!?!?
i have never heard of that but i no how you could prevent it.. duh use a different hairspray or use gloves when you use it
soap and water should do it if not alcohol or finger nail polish remover
Hairspray is for hair not nails!!!

Why my nail surface became uneven/unsmooth? does this indicate any health problem? thank you in advance!?

you probably need more calcium in your body.

Its hard but you need self control. Check a drugstore to see if there's anything on the shelf.
